Truck Driver Charged After Crash

The driver of a 14-wheeler filled with topsoil was arrested and charged with driving drunk after his truck went out of control and tipped over.

The driver was seen fleeing the scene of the accident by a motorist who witnessed the crash at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, police said.

He was found later and apprehended by Halifax police further down on Route 36, said Police Lieutenant Willard Boulter.

Police arrested Levi Stanley, 27, of 95 Upland Road, Plympton on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operating a commercial vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operating to endanger, leaving the scene of an accident, speeding and failing to stay in a marked lane.

Stanley was treated at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth for minor injuries and was released. He was kept at the station lockup and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Plymouth District Court.
