A Holbrook man is in fair condition at a local hospital following an accident early Sunday.
Nicholas Pace, 22, of South Street, was alone in his 2005 Ford sedan when it went out of control and slammed into a utility pole on North Franklin Street across from Highland Plaza.
Numerous 911 calls were received reporting the crash at 2:35 a.m.
The Holbrook fire department paramedics were assisted at the scene by Randolph firefighters.
The impact of the crash pushed the pole from its base and caused it to snap.
The pole was nearly in the middle of the car and it took firefighters about 30 minutes, using the 'Jaws of Life' hydraulic cutting tool, to remove Pace.
Pace was taken to Brockton Hospital with severe injuries.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
